Yes, the results are finally out! Last Sunday, on the 1st of March 2009, those who have waited with bated breath the outcome of the very first Short-Stories and Poetry Writing Contest in conjunction with the English Week 2009 jointly organized by IPEM and PKPMI could finally breathe again as the final results were announced and prizes were given to the wonderfully talented winners. The prizes were handed out by one of the judges and an IPEM committee member, Mr. Firdaus Musa.

IPEM has received a total of eight (8) beautiful poems and nine (9) amazing short-stories with a central theme of humanity for the contest and this only meant one thing- UNHAS Makassar has been harboring future bestselling authors and poets under its very own roofs! It was a very difficult moment for the judges when they had to decide who the winners are since all the entries were astounding. Nevertheless, decisions had to be made and even though some did not win, it was not because they were not good because they actually were. Indeed, the only difference between those who won and those who didn’t is their future masterpiece. And we sincerely wish that they (and you) shall keep them coming for the next year’s contest!

  1. Congratulations!!!

I’m really proud with all the writers, whether you win or not. This proves that we can do anything despite how occupied we are in our medical life, both the pre-clinical and clinical.
All we need is determination and practice-practice-practice!

    Great pieces guys!

  2. Salam.

I’m overwhelmed with the participation from all of you. I thank you all for that. Your masterpieces had amazed us! There are hidden talents in our community masyaAllah. We are really looking forward to read more of your writing, and you don’t have to wait for a competition to start writing. You can send them to our email ( and we’ll be sure to check it out and post it in the blog! (To post in the blog: anonymously or with your name, is up to you). Do share your gifts with others, my friends.

My apology goes to all of IPEM’s members for my lack of appearance in a few of our program lately. Busy shouldn’t be an excuse for me and I’ll try to make it up to all of you insyaAllah. To all my IPEM’s committees, I can’t thank enough for all of your commitment and hard work to make this project possible. You guys are as good as without me! I’m honored to be a part of this great team. Good job everyone!
